This is the perfect Friday night Fakeaway. A quick dumpling (qyoza), noodle and vegetable soup will warm you up and fill you up. I used prawn gyoza but in hindsight I should of got pork gyoza so the kiddos turn turn their noses up at the prawns. They did enjoy the soup, noodles and carrot though which I am claiming as a success.
You can improvise with any vegetables you have. I would of like to used bok choy but had baby spinach that needed to be used so that’s what I used. I have kept the flavouring mild, but you could add sliced chilli to the adult serves if you like.
INGREDIENTS
20 Gyoza (dumplings) of choice. Prawn, pork or vegetable.
4 Litres of Chicken Stock (I used Vegeta Chicken Stock powder to make my own liquid stock)
1/4 Cup Light Soy Sauce
1 Tsp Minced Ginger
1 Tsp Minced Garlic
200gm Instant Ramen Noodles
2 Carrots Sliced
Leafy green vegetable of choice (baby spinach, bok choy etc)
Pepper to taste
LET’S PUT IT ALL TOGETHER
- Place a large pot over a medium high heat.
- Add the chicken stock, soy sauce, ginger, garlic and carrots. Bring to the boil for 2 minutes.
- Once boiling reduce to a medium heat and add the noodles and gyoza. Simmer for 5 minutes or until the gyoza float.
- Add the leafy green vegetables and pepper to taste, stir through and then remove from the heat.
Serve.
Serves 4-5.
Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave before serving.
Can we put this in the slow cooker?
HI Tanya
Yes and no. It is already a super quick recipe. The dumplings only need that 8 to 10 minutes of cooking in the stock, any longer and they will turn to mush.
which dumplings do you recommend?
I used the brand KBs Prawn Gyoza found at Woolworths, the ones from Aldi which you can get in pork are also good too.
Hi Amanda, can you add in the pork dumplings frozen? (Aldi ones)
Yes you can 🙂
