Who loves the combination of peanut butter and honey on toast? It’s my treat breakfast on the weekends. These no bake peanut butter oat squares have only three ingredients, you’ve probably guessed them already – peanut butter, rolled oats and honey. Too easy. Combined together you get these great little snack slices. They are perfect for eating before playing afternoon/morning sport for sustained energy.
INGREDIENTS
3 Cups Rolled Oats
1/2 Cup Honey
1 Cup Peanut Butter
LETS PUT IT ALL TOGETHER
1. Place the peanut butter and honey in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on medium high for 50 seconds. Remove and mix together to form a paste.
2. Place the rolled oats into a large bowl and then pour in the peanut butter and honey mix. Mix well to combine.
3. Spoon into a lined square dish and flatten out. Place in the fridge for 2 hours to set.
4. Cut into slices and enjoy.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Makes 16 bars or more if you cut them smaller.
Is rolled oats the same as porridge oats? X
As you can see in the photo, rolled oats are the larger sized oats. Normally you would use quick oats for porridge which are a smaller cut oat. Hope that helps.
Would these be suitable to freeze?
Yes they are.
Is there anything you can substitute the peanut butter for? Our school is nut free.
No sorry, this one relies on the peanut butter to set it.
Would almond butter work instead of peanut?
I haven’t tried it but it should do.
How long so these last for in the fridge or cupboard
Keep them in the fridge and they will be fine for a week.
Are there any other ingredients you can recommend to add some variety? If so, in what quantity would you suggest?
Hi Des, you can add choc chips, seeds or nuts. Just simply press into the top. Quantity – about 1/2 cup.
I used rice malt syrup instead of honey.
Worked well! Easy!
