I love giving homemade gifts and this one couldn’t be any easier. A simple microwave mug cake mix with a personalised mug that includes the directions to make the mug cake. I will be using these as teachers gifts but of course these make the perfect gift for any chocolate lover.
INGREDIENTS
2 Cups Self Raising Flour
8 Tbs Cocoa
8 Tbs Sugar
250gm Dark Chocolate Chips
Packaging etc
1 x 800ml Glass Canister – purchased from KMart. This is the Christmas canister and it was $4.
1 x Ziplock Bag
1 x 300ml White Mug – purchased from KMart for $1
1 x Sharpie
LETS PUT IT ALL TOGETHER
- In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar and cocoa. Pour into the glass canister.
- Transfer the chocolate chips into a ziplock bag, remove the excess air and place on top of the mix. Close the lid.
To make the mug with handwritten instructions:
You will need a Sharpie pen, I went for the fine point one.
Write the following on the mug:
Microwave Chocolate Mug Cake
*Add 1/3 Cup of Mix
*1 Tbs Butter
*1/4 Cup Milk
*Mix Together with a fork
*Microwave on high for 1 minute
*Sprinkle Choc chips on top.
**Included my sons name on the handle.
Place the mug into a 180 degree Celsius oven for 30 minutes. Turn off the oven and leave to cool inside the oven to avoid cracking from a change in temperature. The mug is now able to be washed and used.
I will be packaging this up in a gift bag along with a lovely tea towel and adding a bunch of fresh flowers on the morning that we take it to school.
